| What To Do In Case of Fire While Staying In A Hotel? |
| Chislehurst Hotel |
When you are on a vacation especially in quaint, pretty London suburbs like Chislehurst, you tend to forget safety tips because of the picturesque surroundings. It is of course but natural to be immersed on its beauty. However, never make the mistake of leaving your fire safety tips at home. Accidents do happen whether you are inside a small bed and breakfast lodgings or staying in a Chislehurst hotel. It is therefore just practical to check it out if they have fire safety plan or fire-fighting devices inside it. The first thing you need to check is if the building has two exit points. Many places in Chislehurst are traditionally designed so it is important that you know two ways on how to get out of the building in case of fire. It is even more important if you have children with you. Teaching them how to get out in a way of a game would make them remember it without getting bothered that much in case of a chaotic environment. If you are staying on a Chislehurst hotel with an elevator or in any hotel for that matter, always remember that it is a no-no to use the elevator when there is fire. Use the stairs; it is much safer than being cooped inside the elevator with a possibility of electric outage that would render it unusable. There are hotels that do not highlight fire safety, as some believe that it gives a negative vibe to clients but it is genuine concern that should be addressed the moment you step in the building especially when you are alone. Familiarizing yourself with the building emergency exits and evacuation procedures is not enough. It would be nice if they have installed water sprinklers along with smoke and fire detectors provided they be in great working condition. The presence of foam fire extinguishers will also bring relief towards their guests. If you are quite unlucky that the fire is already blazing in some part of the hotel when you realized it, check the doorknob of each room you are about to pass to see if its cold. Any indication that it is hot would mean the fire is just near the room. Slowly open the door and if you feel heat emanating outside or a burst of smoke, then immediately close the door and find an emergency exit. You also advised to stay low if smoke has gathered around. You will see much clearly the path on lower ground. It would also be nice if you can get hold of any fire-fighting device like a foam fire extinguisher so you can have something to extinguish the fire that you may encounter on your way out. Best of all, do not panic when you hear fire alarms or you realized that there is a fire going on. If you have time, better call for the fire department to send in the firefighters. There have been many cases in the past that hotels do not call the fire brigade until they can confirm that their staff and crew cannot control it any longer. |
